FLYIN'
I enjoy
traveling and never tire of staring out the plane's window. The time hurries by
as I study the topology, wonder what it's like to live in these places, and the
history of the area. Following the rivers and mountains, I often recount the
stories of the early explorers and settlers that struggled to cross the land,
taking several months. I now view from 35,000 feet and arrive within at most a
few hours.
But I also regularly remember how our creations have brought us closer to
understanding God. It's interesting to me that we humans have taken advantage of
those created things around us to provide our modern technologies, and thus we
learn a little more of His qualities.
I remember as a child wondering how any Being could be all-knowing, all-seeing,
all-the-time. It was convenient that the description of God was the most
powerful in all dimensions which we refer! Yet, as I stare out the window, it
doesn't seem far-fetched at all.
Let's assume I see out for 100 square-miles. I can see many homes, roads,
travelers on the surface and realize those things they are about to encounter. I
can see the dark patches that clouds create as they block the sun, or where rain
stops ahead of these souls. It isn't much of a stretch to imagine a Being that
could realize these lives and their courses at a glance. Simply adding a
time-dimension, He could also see their past and future.

I consider the spy-satellite technology that can photograph any specific
square-footage of earth, or direct a precision bomb within a few inches. It
isn't much of a stretch to imagine a Being with "eyesight" with the same
capabilities.
During my flight to the West Coast from Chicago, I've watched the scenes for
four hours. I've seen a couple thousand miles of land and people. Yet the
astronauts from their orbit can transverse the entire planet in a mere 20
minutes! It isn't much of a stretch to imagine a Being that could travel it
within a second.
I praise God for revealing Himself in his Creation! Surely if we humans can
create such technologies, He, the Creator, is yet greater than what is made!
